Get Open Ready: Destination Customer Service
Everyone involved in The Open is an ambassador for the destination and plays an important role in the overall visitor experience.

Providing excellent customer service is vital to deliver the giant welcome our visitors deserve ensuring they return again and again whilst also improving the reputation of our destination.
Being Big Hearted is about being warm, generous and hospitable hosts. The 153rd Open gives us the opportunity to share our local giant spirit on a global stage.
To ensure we are offering a Giant Welcome, Tourism NI will be hosting a number of Get Open Ready Customer Service courses.
This course has been designed to ensure that those working in the tourism industry are best prepared for the arrival of golf visitors from around the world
These will be free, one day in duration and fully accredited offering a level 2 qualification.
Tourism NI is delighted to partner with Belfast Metropolitan College, Northern Regional College and North West Regional College to deliver this level 2 qualification.
These courses are aimed at those who wish to refresh and hone their customer skills and already have experience in the Tourism or Hospitality sector.
Courses will be delivered in-person and learners must be available to attend the full day.
Places are limited and subject to participant numbers.
Learners must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the programme:
- Employed in a customer service/facing role within the tourism & hospitality sector;
- Eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
- ‘Settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- A person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
- Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.
