What we know so far…

Launch of Healthy Breakfast campaign
1 January

As part of Breakfast Month Northern Ireland Hotels Federation (NIHF) will be running a Healthy Breakfast Campaign with the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Taking place throughout the entire month of January, the campaign supports hotels, guesthouses and guest accommodations in creating a healthy breakfast option for under 400 calories featuring Northern Ireland ingredients and using the FSA MenuCal Tool.

Join the Food Revolution Roadshows
19 – 22 January

Tourism NI series of Roadshows in Derry, Enniskillen, Armagh and Belfast. These half day roadshow events will cover a host of areas to ensure your business is ready to make the most of the NI Year of Food & Drink 2016. 

Farmhouse Breakfast Week
24 – 30 January

The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the wealth of wonderful breakfast produce available around the country. All stages of the food chain, from farmers to food producers and retailers to consumers are encouraged to get involved and hold events during the week to promote the importance of starting the day with breakfast.

Newry City Breakfast Month
25 – 29 January

Newry Business Improvement District is hosting Newry City Breakfast Month between 25th and 29th January, showcasing Newry’s fantastic food and supporting local suppliers by encouraging businesses to treat their staff to breakfast from a local outlet.

Pre Gulf Food dinner, Dubai
26 January

The first in a series of monthly dinners launching the Dubai NI Dining Club is organised by Invest NI and will be held in the British Embassy, Dubai. The event, which will be attended by Invest NI’s Head of Territory and Food Business Development Manager, will be the first of two to target key buyers and influencers in the food sector. The privately invited guests are leading Dubai chefs from the large hotel groups and food service buyers who supply hotels, restaurants and catering outlets.

Ulster University Route to Market for Food and Drink Products
28 January

Ulster University Food and Consumer Testing Suite (FACTS) invite you to an afternoon event to explore the various routes to market for food and drink products, from how to get on to the retailers’ shelves to selling direct online and exporting. For more details please visit

Ulster ‘Fry Day’
29 January

The Year of Food and Drink’s Breakfast Month culminates with Ulster ‘Fry Day’ on Friday 29th January. The event will be a celebration of the Ulster Fry, and ‘filled sodas’, but also other breakfast foods made in Northern Ireland. For more details see
