To help support our industry during this difficult time, Tourism NI’s Business Solutions team have been working hard to promote Northern Ireland as a world class business events destination to the lucrative Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events / Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Tourism NI and SITE Ireland Announce Partnership

Tourism NI and The Society of Incentive Travel Excellence Ireland (SITE) recently announced a partnership for 2020. The first initiative of this partnership was the Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) qualification, which took place at the Crowne Plaza Belfast last month.

C&IT Global Digital Forum

 

C&IT (Conference & Incentive Travel) magazine held their Digital Global Forum from 27 - 29 October 2020, where up to 100 Global MICE buyers from the UK, USA and Canada attended the virtual event. In total, 20 pre-arranged one to one appointments were made with each buyer who had requested the meetings. Participants also had the opportunity to attend educational content sessions including a session on The Future of Incentive Travel where Eimear Callaghan, Tourism NI’s Business Solutions Manager was on the panel.

Local industry representatives include Visit Belfast, Visit Derry, ICC Belfast, Bespoke Business Events, Titanic Belfast, Dalriada Kingdom Tours, Hastings Hotels, Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort and The Merchant Hotel.

Global Incentive Summit

 

Tourism NI recently collaborated with Titanic Belfast, The Merchant Hotel Belfast and Hastings Hotels at the Global Incentive Summit Digital Event on the 4 and 5 November 2020.  A fantastic opportunity to sell Northern Ireland to prestigious North American incentive travel buyers on a virtual platform. Ireland was perceived as a safe destination, in particular our open spaces and the reassurance of the ‘Good to Go’ safety mark.

Ireland Inside  

Ireland Inside previously known as Ireland meets the West End took place virtually on 12 November this year. This was a fantastic opportunity for local trade to promote Northern Ireland as a world-class business events destination to GB based MICE buyers.

Industry representatives who participated in the event include Visit Belfast, Visit Derry, ICC Belfast, Titanic Belfast, Ten Square, Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort, Hastings Hotels, The Merchant Hotel, Clayton Belfast and The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast.

Luxury Briefing to Tourism Ireland Global team

 

Tourism NI recently presented a brief to the Tourism Ireland Global team on the luxury product in Northern Ireland. The team at Tourism NI are about to embark on a major piece of research in association with Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland to examine the potential of “ultra-high net worth luxury travel” to the tourism economy.

Wyred World Virtual Event

Wyred World was a virtual event, which took place from 17 to 19 November 2020, bringing together the complete travel portfolio of clients with up to 200 MICE and 150 leisure buyers in attendance. Attendees had an opportunity to network, make new connections with potential global business partners and access expert led discussions. Industry representatives from Hastings Hotels and Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort joined Tourism NI.

SITE Virtual AGM

Tourism NI spoke at the SITE Ireland Chapter Virtual AGM on 19 November 2020 as part of the recent partnership agreement with SITE Ireland Chapter.

Upcoming activities…

ILTM World Tour 2020

 

ILTM, which traditionally takes place as a global event in Cannes, has gone virtual over a 3-week period. ILTM World Tour is a virtual show designed specifically for a highly targeted and qualified group within the luxury travel industry.  Each week will have three days of meetings and will facilitate virtual meetings with buyers and media from the markets outlined below.

  • Asia Pacific (17 - 19 November)
  • Europe, Middle East and Africa (23 - 25 November)
  • North America (1 - 3 December)

 

Tourism NI will be joined by Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast, Hastings Hotels, The Merchant Hotel Belfast and Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort.
