Millions of golfers and potential holidaymakers in America, Canada, Republic of Ireland and the UK will read or hear about Northern Ireland’s world-class golf, world renowned attractions and legendary hospitality, following media visits facilitated by Tourism NI.
Invited by Tourism NI, in partnership with Tourism Ireland, the golfers itineraries included a visit to the home of the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, Portstewart Golf Club and hosts of the 2019 Open Championship Royal Portrush as well as a round at Ardglass Golf club, Royal County Down, Castlerock Golf Club and Lough Erne.
Eimear Callaghan, Tourism NI Golf Sales and Marketing Manager commented; “Golf is the world’s largest sports related travel market and Tourism NI is working in collaboration with local golf clubs, accommodation providers and attractions to ensure that we attract and retain the attention of golfers from around the world.
“America, Canada, the UK and Republic of Ireland are key markets for golf in Northern Ireland and facilitating media trips with journalists allows us to beam inspiring and compelling information and pictures into the homes of millions of potential golf holidaymakers.”
Tee times for Ardglass Golf Club and Royal County Down Golf Club were programmed in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down Council. The week culminated in a round at the world's number one golf course, Royal County Down.
Although golf was the key focus of the trip, the journalists from a range of sport and consumer titles including the Global Golf post, Golf News Net, Golf Advisor, Today's Golfer, Golf Channel, Evening Standard, Golf Digest and Travel Golf also toured the Causeway Coastal Route.
