Northern Ireland showcased to lucrative coach and group sector
Published September 19, 2017
Over 40 influential coach and group tour operators from the Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales recently met with members of the local tourism trade as part of Northern Ireland’s only coach and group workshop facilitated by Tourism NI.
Coach tour operators in attendance at the workshop, held at Titanic Belfast, had short meetings with 44 members of the Northern Ireland tourism trade who offered the greatest potential for programming tour schedules for 2018.
Every year new business deals are signed and new partnerships commenced between members of the Northern Ireland tourism trade and coach and group operators.
Eimear Callaghan, Tourism NI Business Solutions Manager commented; “There are over seventy hotels in Northern Ireland with the capacity to host lucrative coach tours. With the opening of the new Titanic Belfast Hotel and more new hotels including the Grand Central Hotel, the Maldron Hotel Belfast and the AC Marriott Belfast due to open by the end of next year we will have over one thousand additional rooms to boost our marketing efforts”.
“This annual workshop creates the perfect opportunity for hoteliers to come together with restaurants, local councils and visitor attractions to increase the awareness of their collective offering. As our tourism product develops, and our reputation as a must see destination reaches new heights, I would encourage the local trade to collaborate with other members of the tourism sector, local councils and tourism bodies to help position their respective business to market at home and on a global stage”.
“Face to face networking events remain vitally important for the Northern Ireland industry to meet operators and do business as we seek to make tourism a £1billion export industry by 2020.”
In addition to the workshop and networking sessions, Tourism NI organised a number of fact-finding tours around Northern Ireland for coach and group operators to provide a direct experience of what a holiday to Northern Ireland can offer their customers including tours of the Causeway Coastal Route and Derry~Londonderry.
