Quality Assurance, Causeway Coast and Glens
Published August 17, 2017
Water’s Edge bed and breakfast, a former police station turned luxury bed and breakfast has been awarded a five star grading by Tourism NI under its visitor accommodation grading scheme.
To achieve a star-rating, accommodation providers are subject to an unannounced mystery assessment from a Tourism NI Quality Grading Advisor and are assessed in up to ten categories including cleanliness, hospitality and friendliness, service and efficiency and food quality.
Water’s Edge proprietors Jenny and Peter Monroe scored highly on all ten categories and were awarded five stars, signalling an excellent accommodation provider for visitors, ideally located for touring the Glens of Antrim and visiting the many tourism giants on the Causeway Coastal Route.
Caroline Adams, Tourism NI Quality and Standards Manager commented; “Water’s Edge bed and breakfast is an excellent visitor accommodation provider which strengthens the tourism offering in Glenarm. The conversion from the Police Station of Glenarm to the modern three bedroom B&B is nothing short of spectacular. The stunning views are coupled with five star service and focus on home-grown and local produce. I commend Jenny and Peter’s commitment to working collaboratively with other local tourism providers to promote Glenarm as a must see destination for local and international visitors. ”
Jenny Monroe, owner of Water’s Edge commented, “Peter and I are delighted to have achieved a 5 star grading it means a great deal to us and we hope it provides a valuable addition to all that our beautiful village of Glenarm has to offer. We strive to maintain high standards of comfort and provide tasty, locally sourced food. We work closely with local businesses, Glenarm Organic Salmon and North Coast Smokehouse who supply our salmon, Glenarm Castle, Glenarm Visitors Centre, The Londonderry Arms and The Gobbins. Together we aim to provide a true taste of Northern Ireland and make visitor experiences special. We very much enjoy meeting guests from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and the far western shores of Canada and America, all of whom fall in love with Glenarm and comment they wish they had stayed longer. Since we opened in 2015, we have welcomed in excess of 1300 guests. We are privileged to have such a lifestyle in a most picturesque setting. Our guests often tell us that they feel at home here, that is exactly what we love to hear.”
