Following the success of the 'How to Win & Handle Incentive Business' masterclass held in Galgorm Resort & Spa back in Jan 2017, Tourism Northern Ireland held a half day masterclass in order to help industry become... #IncentiveReady
The objectives of this masterclass were as follows:
- Educate NI Incentive Operators as to how to promote their business to Destination Management Companies (DMCs), corporates, corporate agents and high end event management companies
- Educate NI Incentive Operators as to how to make their offering exclusive, unique and unusual
- Educate NI Incentive Operators as to how to deal with incentive groups when they have actually won the business.
Northern Ireland is at a turning point in the development of the incentive sector of the MICE market. We are now on the wish list of both agencies and their clients as a new destination for incentive groups and we must exploit this to the full. Our incentive product is improving by the day but we all need to learn and be ready to grow this area of business.
The event included presentations from the below speakers, who enlightened delegates on how to grow in the incentive business sector:
Ken Lyons - Event Facilitator 'Getting Incentive Ready'
In 2005, Ken started his career in the global meeting, incentives, conferences and events industry and has worked with companies including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Leading Hotels of The World. In 2016, he founded KL Communications, a sales and marketing agency, working with companies in the MICE Industry to grow their revenues through the provision of sales representation services, the creation of dynamic marketing strategies based on the concept of brand publishing and executing world class training and development programmes. Ken served as SITE Ireland Chapter President in 2016 and in 2017 overseeing the Chapter’s growth to a record high of over 100 members as well as hosting the SITE Executive Summit in January 2017, its first international SITE event hosted in Ireland in over 20 years. Ken was recently awarded SITE Member of The Year 2017.
Michael Dalton - Director of Sales, Moloney & Kelly 'The role of the DMC and what that means for you'
Michael Dalton, CIS, is Director of Sales with Moloney & Kelly, a leader in the field of creative destination solutions in Ireland. An active member of the Industry, Michael currently serves as Co-Chair of the Site Young Leaders Program and is the current President of SITE Ireland. Most recently he won the SITE Ireland Producer Idol 2015 and the SITE David Riddell Memorial Scholarship 2014. He has served on MPI UK & Ireland Committee for several years.
Academically, Michael holds a Degree in Business and Event Management from Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) and also an Honours Degree in Event, Hospitality & Tourism Management from DKIT. Prior to working with Moloney & Kelly, Michael has worked in a number of areas within the Incentive Travel Industry both at home and abroad including an Event Production Company in Atlanta, the world’s largest destination management company and the world’s largest leisure operator overseas.
Caitriona Lavery, Group Sales Manager, Hastings Hotels Group 'Maximising Opportunities through Collaboration'
Caitriona has been Groups Sales Manager at Hastings Hotels for over 20 years with a key role in looking after Business Tourism , Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events. Working closely with Tourism NI, Visit Belfast and Tourism Ireland, Caitriona would attend many national and international trade shows such as IMEX USA, IBTM and UK Meetings Show to help raise the profile of Northern Ireland as a key meetings and incentive destination.
