Take a look at the guidance and support HM Revenue and Customs has to offer to help people in business get their tax affairs right.  You can access this modern, simplistic education at a time convenient to you and you can revisit as many times as you need.  HMRC has developed this wide range of support and information with the aim to build your confidence on tax matters by providing easily accessible support in a variety of different formats.


HMRC offers a range e-learning products, including Starting Your Own Business,  Becoming an Employer and Business Expenses for the Self-employed.  These courses contain everything you need to know about being self-employed and employing someone.  You can work through this at your own pace, at a time that is convenient for you.


Webinars are free online presentations that enable you to attend a seminar without leaving your desk. HMRC runs a wide variety of webinars which will help you get things right from the start.  These last less than an hour and you can choose between a pre-recorded webinar available at any time or a live and interactive webinar where you also get the opportunity to ask questions.  To see the range of webinars that are available visit here.


Sign up for HMRC’s free email service to receive a series of tax related emails to let you know what you need to do to keep your tax affairs in order.  These emails remind you when you need to make payments to HMRC and what records you need to keep.  To sign up, click here.

The “HMRC App”

The new app launched by HMRC provides easier access to a wide range of digital help and support for businesses.  This app can be download free of charge from:

The app gives you access to live webinars and recorded videos, information and services on taxes, e-learning for employers and self-employed, signing up to our email alerts, HMRC Business Help Twitter account, commercially developed Record Keeping apps (including the tax calculator) and HMRC forms.
