Guidance for Private Sector Employers
The Equality Commission is encouraging employers to consider the benefits of
recruiting people with disabilities. Research shows that these can include,
presenting the business as an inclusive employer that reflects the community it
serves, improving productivity and quality of work and reducing staff turnover.
To find out more about the benefits for your business, come to the Equality Commisions breakfast event. Issues discussed include making reasonable adjustments in employment and the positive action measures available to employers when recruiting disabled people.
The Orchardville Society will also be explaining their work in supporting people
with learning disabilities and/or autism into jobs and there will be an opportunity to hear from an employer on their experience of employing disabled people, and from a disabled employee on finding work and being supported in the workplace.
