Purpose of course:
Would you like to see your business featured in a TV or radio news report? Have you ever wondered how to get a journalist interested in your tourism offering? This course will help you to understand what journalists need from you to develop a great story. You’ll also get to experience mock interviews so that you’re primed and ready when the cameras arrive for real! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to promote your business to a nationwide audience.
What the course covers:
You will learn tools and techniques to help with interview preparation,
- Improve and refine your key message for different interview situations
- Learning the value of the sound-bite
- Understanding your audience
- Body language and building rapport
- Stress management techniques
- Understanding the role of social media
You’ll also get plenty of broadcast interview practice with playback and critique
from experienced broadcaster mentors. You’ll get an online link to your interview
after the workshop.
Eligibility for Courses
Training courses are only available to Mid and East Antrim Borough based tourism and hospitality businesses. A maximum of 2 participants will be permitted from any one business, unless courses are under subscribed. Familiarisation trips will be extended to tour guides and visitor information centre staff outside the area. Places will be given on a first come first served basis. Once available spaces have been filled, applicants will be placed on a reserve list.

All courses have been subsidised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. For chargeable courses, payment will be required in advance. This can be accepted in cash or by cheque made payable to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council reserves the right to cancel courses at any time, if there are insufficient participant numbers. In the event of participant cancellation, less than one week before the start of a course or failure to attend a course, no refund will be given unless the cancelled place can be filled from a reserve list of businesses. Substitutions may be made from within.
