This training is designed to increase your staff’s awareness of other cultures and give them practical skills and advice to help them communicate effectively with visitors or clients from overseas.

Purpose of course:
The course will give your staff tips and techniques that will help them overcome language barriers and cultural differences, so they can provide a great service for every single one of your customers.
It is modern, interactive and energetic and using a mixture of activities, DVD scenarios, and case studies the training will give your staff the expertise to stand out from the competition. On completion of the training participants will be awarded the official WorldHost ® pin and certificate.

- The importance of overseas visitors to your business
- Understanding your own cultural perceptions
- How to avoid making assumptions about other cultures
- Common myths about some of the UK’s biggest overseas markets
- Communicating through language barriers
- How to become a ‘people to people ambassador’

It includes a certificate and stickers to show off in your business and a badge for you to display on your website.
Eligibility for Courses
Training courses are only available to Mid and East Antrim Borough based tourism and hospitality businesses. A maximum of 2 participants will be permitted from any one business, unless courses are under subscribed. Familiarisation trips will be extended to tour guides and visitor information centre staff outside the area. Places will be given on a first come first served basis. Once available spaces have been filled, applicants will be placed on a reserve list.

All courses have been subsidised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. For chargeable courses, payment will be required in advance. This can be accepted in cash or by cheque made payable to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council reserves the right to cancel courses at any time, if there are insufficient participant numbers. In the event of participant cancellation, less than one week before the start of a course or failure to attend a course, no refund will be given unless the cancelled place can be filled from a reserve list of businesses. Substitutions may be made from within.
