Tourism NI announces that its Certification Service has recommenced
Tourism Northern Ireland is pleased to announce that its Certification Service has reopened to new applicants.
The law in Northern Ireland states that all tourist accommodation businesses must be certified by Tourism NI before they can trade.
The COVID-19 pandemic meant that tourist accommodation businesses had to close for at least three months, and those who had planned to open a new business could not do so. Samantha Corr, Quality & Standards Manager at Tourism NI, said, “after a challenging few months across our industry, tourist accommodation businesses have tentatively reopened their doors. We are delighted to be able to recommence our work to get businesses opened up safely and legally. While it is a legal requirement for tourist accommodation businesses to be certified, for many this is the first step of a journey with Tourism NI and the long-term development of their business”.
New businesses can apply online at https://forms.tourismni.com and our team is on hand to answer any of your questions at 028 9044 1545 or QA@tourismni.com. For more information about the process, please visit: www.tourismni.com/accommodation.
Statutory inspections (i.e. ‘renewal’ inspections) remain on hold, however further information will follow in the coming days. Existing tourism certificates will remain in effect until the service resumes. If you would like to speak to the team, please feel free to get in touch using the contact details above.
