Tourism NI Board engages with local industry on North Coast

The Tourism Northern Ireland Board travelled to the North Coast this week to meet with stakeholders, local government partners and the tourism industry.

The Tourism Northern Ireland Board travelled to the North Coast this week to meet with stakeholders, local government partners and the tourism industry,

The visit was undertaken to allow members of the Board gain a better understanding at grass roots level of the issues and challenges which the industry is facing and let them see first-hand new products and visitor experiences which are being developed.

The Board visited Bushmills Distillery where they undertook a tour before hosting a dinner with industry stakeholders at the Elephant Rock Boutique Hotel in Portrush.

Key issues discussed included preparations for The 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in July 2025.

The Board also held its meeting at the offices of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council before visiting the site of the new Dunluce Lodge in Portrush.

Ellvena Graham, Chair of the Tourism Northern Ireland Board, said: “Visits such as this are invaluable as they allow the Board to engage directly with the local tourism industry.

“This visit gave members the opportunity to hear how the region is gearing up to host the Open which is now just nine short months away.

“Members also got the opportunity to see how Tourism Northern Ireland’s promotion of the world class golfing product in the region has generated investment in new hotel accommodation.”
